First, collect bees in the internal colander. Lines in the colander indicate samples of 200 or 300 bees. Second, separate the mites from bees by shaking the bees gently in alcohol or winter windshield washer fluid. Finally, count the number of mites on the bottom on the bowl to estimate infestation.
